This policy explains how the Pixelate website uses cookies and similar technologies (like browser "local storage"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. "Local storage" is a similar technology browsers use to remember small bits of information. Together they help a site work properly and remember simple preferences. They don't give us access to your device or any files on it.

2. How we use them

Pixelate runs a deliberately lightweight website. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't sell your data. What we do use falls into three groups:

  • Essential: needed for the site and its forms to work and to keep them secure. These can't be switched off without breaking the site.
  • Preferences & local storage: small values stored in your browser to improve your experience. For example, our chat assistant stores a simple daily message counter (so it can apply fair-use limits), and we remember if you've already seen a one-time pop-up during your visit. These stay on your device and aren't personal to you.
  • Analytics: if enabled, privacy-respecting analytics that count visits and show us which pages are popular. This data is aggregated and does not identify you.

3. Third-party services

Some parts of the site are served by trusted third parties, who may set their own cookies or receive your request when content loads:

  • Netlify: hosts the website and processes the contact form.
  • Anthropic is the only third party your browser contacts beyond our host, and only if you use the assistant. Fonts and icons are served from this site, not from Google Fonts or an icon CDN, so no request leaves for them.

These providers handle data under their own policies. We only use providers we consider reputable.

4. Managing cookies

You can control or delete cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings, and set your browser to block them. Most browsers also offer a private/incognito mode. Blocking essential items may stop parts of the site (such as the contact form or chat) from working properly.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page with its "last updated" date.
